Weekly Round up – w/e 8th June

Track and Field

A fairly small group went to Liverpool for the Northern Under 17, 15, 13 Championships and had a very successful event.

Esme Lee had 5 races in a day to finish 2nd in the 100, then follow by winning the 200m. Rowan Whittaker won the 400m by over 2 seconds, in a season’s best. Juliette Callau won the hurdles in what would be UK Leading time apart from her own pervious .01 faster. Hugo Williamson won the Pole Vault with 3.30m.  Zoe Bind won the Triple Jump. Jaxon Marshall won the shot.

Other medallists were Aimee Keefe in Steeplechase, Florence Hodgkins in 200m, Imogen Bind in Triple Jump, Sophia Horsfall-Samb in Shot, Louie Reid in Hammer, Murray Barnard in 300m.

And some good performances to reach the Final, Evelyn Coulson in 200m, Florence Hodgkins 4th in 100m, Imogen Bind in High jump, Lily Craske in 200m, Nina Hopkins in 800m, Oscar Walker a good PB for 5th in the 1500, Rosa Boxall in Triple Jump. And a good PB of 4m 50 for Hannah Lovett for 10th in the 1500m.  

Tommy Shaw took 0.5 seconds off his 1500m PB as he ran 3.41.76 at the BMC meeting in Birmingham on Saturday. The Mastrolonardos both ran PBs with Gianluca breaking 3.50 for the first time, just, as he ran 3.49.86 with Maddie taking more than 2 seconds off her PB with 4.42.40. Angus McMillan (3.48.16) also ran. Archie Lawson took 0.22 seconds off his PB in the 800m with 1.50.60.

Seven members ran at the Leeds BMC last Monday night over 1500m. Lottie Langan – 4.34.10 (Season’s Best), Sam Dickinson – 4.18.35, Will Hardy – 4.07.41, Mark Bolland-Cage – 4.13.52 (Season’s Best), Tom Davey – 4.21.01 (Personal Best), George Ghosh – 4.45.13 (Personal Best) and Ellie Rainbow – 4.44.76 (Personal Best)

Parkrun

27 members of the club did parkrun over the weekend. Beth Lewis had an outright win at Vermuyden Way near Scunthorpe with 18.03. James Tucker came 1st on the Knavesmire in 15.23 with Adam Bateman 3rd in 16.30. Dan Cheeseman came 1st at Darlington in 16.41 with Louis Richardson getting his first parkrun win at Roundhay Park in 17.23. Will Torgeson (17.02 at Heslington), Tom Davey (17.41 at Wetherby) and William Keens (18.35 at Easingwold) all came 2nd with Harriet Brown coming 3rd at Heslington in 20.38. There were junior age group wins for Freddie Clayton, Isla Watson, Wilson Moisey Smith and Sebastian Brown with veteran age group wins for Dave Lancaster, Allan Scott and Jon Blake. Freddie Clayton followed his 5k parkrun on Saturday by winning the York Junior parkrun on Sunday.
