Weekly Round up – w/e 25th May

Track and Field

On a breezy day (25/5/25) in Sheffield the Upper YDL squad arrived in numbers (despite the best efforts of Highways England to slow us down) ready for another day of exciting running, jumping and throwing.

The day started well with a sea of green and black dominating the results. Many athletes competing outside their comfort zones but demonstrating resilience and determination as they helped the team.

Club records were broken in the relays. In the 4 x 100 relay despite some interesting change overs. Rowan Whittaker, Val Machin, Lucas Heron and Oscar Tomlin brought home the Under 17’s in 46.24.

The Girls Under 17’s 4×300 team of Sophia Savkovic, Lucy Gilbertson, Kate Setchell and Nina Hopkins delivering a faultless performance finishing in 2.53.46.

The parents and spectators were in fine voice and made for an excellent atmosphere – we can’t thank you enough for your continued support.

York finished with a magnificent total of 628 points over 200 points clear of second place.

We are already looking forward to our trip to Hull on 6th July.
