Track and Field
The club had 81 athletes competing in the Yorkshire Championships at Cudworth, near Barnsley, over a hot weekend. They really competed hard, and kept their concentration in the tiring conditions, with many of them doing a number of races or events. 50 of them won medals, making 75 medals, and another 19 of them had a finish in the top 6.
Adam Pearson in 200m, and Juliette Callau in hurdles set Championship records, the hurdles having stood since 1980.

Road Racing
Away from the Yorkshire Track and Field Championships the club’s distance runners were out in force at two road races this weekend and at parkrun.
Jess Robertson-Dover continued her recovery from injury with a fine 4th place in the Beverley 10k on Sunday in a time of 37.56. Jess was just 28 seconds behind 2nd place.
12 runners from the club ran in the latest race in the York University 5k series on Friday night. James Bastow completed the first race in a double header as he ran a PB by 7 seconds in 16.47 before winning the Yorkshire U15 title over 3000m less than 24 hours later. Jamie Walker in his first race for the club came 9th in 16.17 with Amy Kennedy being first female from the club in 14th with 19.37. Others to run included Jack Ford a PB of 77 seconds with 16.55, Juliet Horne 20.27, Sienna Newcombe a PB of 50 seconds with 20.33, Nick Lovett 20.39, Isla Watson a PB of 9 seconds with 21.48, Noah Stipetic 22.22, Carys Briggs 23.22 and Bethany Ellerker 25.54.
Chrissie Dover was 2nd lady in Saturday’s Keswick to Barrow 40 miles ultra race in the Lake District in a time of 5 hours 37 minutes and 44 seconds. Must have been hard work in that heat!
Parkrun
18 runners from the club did parkrun over the weekend. Tom Davey was 1st at Rothwell in 17.21 with Wilson-Moisey-Smith coming 3rd at Dalby in 19.23. There were veteran age group wins for Jon Blake, Steve Wright, Stephen Dring and Dave Lancaster with junior age group wins for Liv Hardy and William Keens. Rafael Palmer and Marianne Lowson were both 1st in the York Junior Parkrun with Noah Stipetic 3rd.
