U15 Development Group

This group train between 6-7.30pm on a Monday and 6-7.30pm on a Wednesday.The sessions enable athletes from age 10*-14 (school years 5-9) to further develop their skills of running, jumping and throwing in a fun and safe environment. *Athletes cannot join this group until after their 10th birthday and providing they have a good training age (experience of athletics training for 6 months+ and/or competitions). This group will challenge athletes in terms of their fitness and skill development and will give them the confidence to compete in the Youth Development League competitions and other local and national competitions throughout the athletics season including our own 5 Summer League events and the York Open.

Monday – 6-7.30pm – Start of November – End of February
Athletes should arrive at 5.45pm, register in the club house and be ready to begin the warm-up and drills at 6pm. At 6.15pm all athletes will be involved in ‘winter training’ – circuit training and strength and conditioning workouts. From 6.55 – 7.30pm athletes can choose a second activity:
Sprinting with Steph Hopkin, Middle-Distance training with Ian Wilcock or Long Jump with Pete Stratton.

Athletes should arrive at 5.45pm, register in the club house and be ready to begin the warm-up and drills at 6pm. At 6.15pm five activities will be offered and athletes will choose their first activity which will run from 6.15 – 6.50pm (Pole Vault – Ian Noble, Throws – Amanda Schofield/Elaine Wilcock, High Jump – , Hurdles – Craig Pounder and Sprinting – Steph Hopkin) and their second activity which will run from 6.55 – 7.30pm (Pole Vault – Ian Noble, Long Jump – Pete Stratton, Throws – Amanda Schofield/Elaine Wilcock, Hurdles – Steph Hopkin and Middle Distance – Ian Wilcock).

Wednesday – 6-7.30pm – Start of November – End of February
Athletes should arrive at 5.45pm, register in the club house and be ready to begin the warm-up and drills at 6pm. At 6.15pm all athletes will be involved in ‘winter training’ – circuit training and strength and conditioning workouts. From 6.55 – 7.30pm athletes can choose a second activity:
Sprinting with Craig Pounder, Middle-Distance training with Ian Wilcock or Long Jump with Pete Stratton.

Wednesday – 6-7.30pm – Start of March – End of October

At 6.15pm five activities will be offered and athletes will choose their first activity which will run from 6.15 – 6.50pm (Long Jump – Lisa Brooks, Throws – Amanda Schofield/Elaine Wilcock, High Jump – Bob Williams, Hurdles – Dave Paver and Sprinting – Craig Pounder) and their second activity which will run from 6.55 – 7.30pm (Long Jump – Pete Stratton, Throws – Amanda Schofield/Elaine Wilcock, High Jump – Bob Williams, Hurdles – Dave Paver/Craig Pounder and Middle Distance – Ian Wilcock).
