About Coach Paul Wilson. I have been coaching for a number of years having been a discus thrower when younger. I threw to National standard but a serious knee injury shortened my career so now I coach. I coach athletes of all abilities and ages from 12 upwards. The Squad have had a lot of success with athletes breaking records and reaching International honours in Shot, Discus, Javelin and Multi events competing for England, Wales, Malta and Great Britain. We train hard but the athletes get the rewards. If you would like to come and see what we do and maybe join the group please don’t hesitate to contact me on 07912 757715 or by email

2015 Season

George Davies wins Silver at the Commonwealth Youth Games for England

Scott Lincoln is the Yorkshire, Northern, England under 23 and British Champion for Shot Put having thrown 18.54m at the British Championships, Scott has also competed for England 3 times this season and won each time. George Davies has been selected for the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa to represent England having thrown 71.26m in the Javelin. We had over 20 medal winners at the County Championships including 6 winners. We have also had a girl win the Welsh Schools and Welsh Senior Championships. We are now looking forward to the English Schools where their are 9 athletes from the squad competing.

The Season ahead, 2015:

As we are already in training and preparing for the season we hope to build once again on the 2014 season with the World Youth Championships and European Under 23 Championships a possibility for a few of the athletes, a few athletes will also be targeting medals at the English Schools and UK Championships next year. The main thing is that as a squad we train and work hard and the results will come. Good Luck

2014 Season:

Now we have ended the 2014 season a quick re cap of the year we had as a squad. Every athlete achieved new personal bests in their events. 2 athletes were selected to compete for England which is a great achievement for Scott and George. We had numerous medal winners at the Yorkshire And Humberside County Championships along with other County medallists who compete in different areas. A number of athletes also performed well at the Northern Championships with 8 medallists. This year we saw 7 athletes compete at the English Schools with all the athletes finishing in the top 10 or higher in their event. A great season had by all, Well Done.

As the season is now in full swing the athletes are training hard and have done a number of competitions already. The squad had a number of Medalists at the Yorkshire and Humberside Championships and then at the Northern Championships in Manchester 6 athletes competed winning 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals between them. Just recently was the England Athletics U23/U20 Championships and 3 of the athletes competed. Danny Fleming 12th in the u20 discus, Jordan Carter Silver in the u23 Javelin and Scott Lincoln Silver in the U23 shot with 17.27m. This weekend Scott and Jordan compete at the UK senior Championships. In 2 weeks some of the squad will compete at the All English Schools Championships in Birmingham. Good Luck to Ellen Brown (discus), Chelsea Walker (400mh), Ben Wharton (Shot), Henry Fairclough (Shot), George Davies (javelin) and Danny Fleming (discus)

Following a great warm weather training camp in Portugal the squad returned and started the season off with 4 new Personal Bests. George Davies threw the 700 gram javelin 69.96m to go Number 1 in the UK and to go 6th on the UK all time rankings. Henry Fairclough registered a PB in the Under 17 shot putt with a throw of 13.49m and Ellen Brown achieved a new PB of 37.45m with the discus in the under 20’s. This also means that the athletes have already qualified for the English Schools. Well done.

The squad are now training hard towards the outdoor season where some will compete at the Liverpool open on 12th April before 17 of us fly to Portugal for 8 days of Warm Weather training. We then return for a hard season where hopefully some will qualify for the Commonwealth Games and others will hopefully achieve County and International vests.

The 2014 season started in January with some excellent success already. At the Northern Indoor Championships 4 of the Throws Squad competed and all achieved New Personal bests. Scott Lincoln finished 3rd in the Senior Men Shot Putt with his new PB which now ranks him number 3 in the UK, Sarah Parsons competing in not her best event the Shot Putt finished 5th with a pleasing personal best, Henry Fairclough who has just moved in to the Under 17 age group also finished 3rd for Bronze with a new personal best and Ben Wharton competing as an Under 20 for the first time also achieved a new personal best to finish 5th. The last competition of the indoor season has now been and Scott Lincoln competed at the UK Indoor Championships where he finished in 4th place narrowly missing out on bronze, Henry Fairclough also competed at the England age group Championships and finished in 8th place as a first year Under 17.

2013 Year Review:

This year has been another successful year with every athlete achieving a new personal best in their chosen events. The squad ended the season with 4 athletes ranked either Number 1 or 2 in the Country in their discipline, 4 others ended the year ranked in the Top 10 in the UK. Three of the squad have represented their country this year with others performing very well over the year winning County, Regional and National Medals. Scott Lincoln threw for England twice this year in the Shot, Claire Williams threw the javelin twice for Wales (Both hope to be at Glasgow 2014) and Chelsea Walker represented England Schools in Ireland. Stand out performances were Chelsea Walker winning the English Schools 300m Hurdles, Scott Lincoln finishing 2nd at the UK Under 23 Championships, Claire Williams winning the Welsh Championships, Faye Calvert 2nd at the Welsh Championships, George Davies finishing 2nd at the UK Under 17 Championships and 3rd at the English Schools (with another year in the age group). The squad also had 7 athletes competing at the English Schools Finals (Ben Wharton, Ellen Brown, Chelsea Walker, Henry Fairclough, Danny Flemming, George Davies, and Josh Spittal) and 3 athletes competing at the UK School Games (George Davies, Ben Wharton and Chelsea Walker). All the athletes performed well this season and we had medallists at the Northern Championships, Yorkshire Championships and National Inter Counties.

The 2014 season has already started with winter training for some as they prepare for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the rest of the squad return 6th October for conditioning and hard work.

Well done to all the athletes who have trained and competed this season, great to see everyone compete who has trained and I look forward to the 2014 season and more achievements for the athletes.

June 2013 Update: Since our last update in April there have been some great performances. Scott Lincoln was selected for his first senior vest where he finished 2nd at the home International in Bedford. Claire Williams was selected for the Wales senior team in the javelin at the Bedford International. The UK U20/U23 Championships were also held in Bedford at the end of June. Scott Lincoln won silver in the u23 Shot with 16.46m, Paul Allsopp finished 4th with a seasons best of 64.11m and Sarah Parsons finished 9th in the u20 discus with 35,63m. We had the Yorkshire Championships where Ben Wharton won the U17 Shot, Sarah Parsons won the U20 Discus, Chelsea Walker won the 80m and 300m hurdles (Humberside Championships) George Davies won the U17 Javelin, Scott Lincoln Silver in the Shot, Faye Calvert silver in the discus, Jasmine Pearson won bronze in the u17 javelin and Henry Fairclough won silver in the U15 Shot.  In July the squad have 7 athletes competing at the English Schools. Good Luck

April 2013 Update: Scott Lincoln and Sarah Parsons were both selected to represent North of England at the Malta International. They both performed excellently with Scott throwing 16.11m a new personal best to win the Shot Putt and move to No.3 in the UK. Sarah Parsons throw near her best to win the senior Discus to move to NO.6 in the UK and Shot Putt against the senior athletes. The same weekend 15 year old George Davies competed in his first javelin comp of the year for the club and threw a new personal best of 59.34m with the 700g javelin. This ranks George No 2 in the UK as he gets closer to qualifying for the World Youths. Heptathlete Chelsea Walker ran the 300m hurdles in Stoke and won in a time close to her personal best to go to No 1 in the UK. Jasmine Pearson competed in ther first competition of the year for the club and won the javelin with a new personal best.

A great start to the 2013 season.
