York Marathon / Endurance running report (7th/8th Oct)

The club had two finishers in the top ten in Sunday’s York Marathon. Emma Ballantyne came 5th in a time of 2 hours 57 minutes. Emma was hoping to beat her personal best time of 2 hours 55 minutes but cramp at 22 miles made the last few miles tough. Emma finished an agonising six seconds behind Knavesmire’s Emma Yates to be the first runner home from York. Charlotte Mason came ninth in a time of 3 hours 6 minutes. Six other runners from the club completed the marathon course, Wesley Possible 3 hours 19 minutes, Paula Coates 3 hours 42 minutes, Miyako Shimoji 3 hours 48 minutes, Stephen Kirk 3 hours 57 minutes, Karen Williams 3 hours 57 minutes and Kate Ramsay 5 hours 42 minutes.

Ed Mezzetti led home 12 runners from the club in the associated 10 mile race in a time of 67 minutes 46 seconds as he continues his comeback from deep vein thrombosis. Karen Wood was the first female finisher from the club in 70 minutes and 49 seconds as he was the first Vet 45 runner home. The other times were as follows: Jeff Wright 89 minutes, Amanda Selveratnem 91 minutes, Rosemary Pauling 91 minutes, Jayne Hardisty 91 minutes, Diane Zbadynski 94 minutes, Charlotte Hancock 96 minutes, Tim Wright 96 minutes, Leanne Waite 96 minutes, Emma Rochard 97 minutes and Val Jones 101 minutes.

Three runners took part in the Bramham Park races on the previous weekend. Charlotte Mason was 2nd overall, 1st lady, in the 10K a week before she ran the York Marathon.

In the 5K, Millie Anderson and Holly Moss finished together as first females, 4th overall.
