2017 Season Report – Geoff Barraclough’s Squad.

A very successful season for all squad members. All of them competed in the various league matches, U17, U20 and Senior. Many found themselves on very unfamiliar ground in some events they had to cover.

2 former members of the squad were included in the Great Britain U23 team competing in the European championships in Poland.

Everyone enjoyed the season with many gaining PB’s some trying other events and finding success. On home ground we had a good turnout at the Yorkshire’s and the Northern’s with a good selection of medals. Just a few to pick out.

  • Geoff Bobb V80 – Yorkshire Vets 100m V80 Champion. Only been with us for just over a year. Power of 10 ranked 3rd. in 100/200/400metres
  • Sue Richardson V55 – Ranked 4th HJ. 5th LJ. PB In shot this year. Yorkshire Vets 100m V50 Champion.
  • Craig Pounder V40 – North of England Masters Decathlon Champion with a PB of 5247 points.
  • Ian Noble V40 – Yorkshire Vets 400m V40 Champion
  • Helen Wilkinson V35 – Yorkshire Vets 3000m Champion

The stalwarts of the squad have helped and encouraged the newer members to achieve good performances, which they all say will be bettered next season. The stalwarts are leading by example and reaching their goals, some exceeding them by large margins.

Unfortunately, some have gone to University, it appears to be a yearly occurrence, they will be missed but university’s do have long breaks so it shouldn’t be long before the sound of their spikes is echoing round the track.
