The club had a varied time last weekend taking in events over the country, track, road and trail.
An Under 15 girls team went to the NYSD Relays at Thirsk. Although only a small entry, they recognised that the Darlington team were strong and it would be a difficult task. All our girls had a really good run, judged their pace well, and battled hard to stay in touch. Holly Moss (lap time 6.39) had a great run against the best Darlington girl, a 4.54 1500m runner, and did very well to hold her to 8 seconds. Ella Foster ran 7.03 on second, working hard to stay in contact with an athlete she knew normally beats her, and did well to drop only 5 seconds. Millie Anderson on third ran really well to try to haul back the gap against a good Darlington girl,(2.28 800m runner) and made up much of the deficit with her 6.31. They ended up just 4 seconds behind, compared to a prediction of 20 seconds from 1500 track times. So although not a win, a very creditable team effort.
Emma Ballantyne rounded off her training for the York marathon by winning the Sutton on Forest 10k trail races in just outside 40 minutes as she won by over two minutes from the second placed female athlete. Lauren Eadon had a fine run to place 4th in the same race and first in the vet 50 category.
Helen Wilkinson won the Yorkshire Vets 3000m title at Cleckheaton. I believe the club had other successes in these championships but given that the results still aren’t up then I can’t report on them!
Kyle McLeay was the fastest parkrunner in the club as he broke 18 minutes for the first time at York . Toby Antcliffe also missed out on first place by the thickness of a vest at Dalby Forest . The fastest female parkrunner from the club was Hollis Lansford at York . Nancy Marshall was the fastest junior parkrunner from the club in the York event
